for distance: eliminate tension in grip. Shoulders and clubhead move at same RPM.

Gravity drop: Extend your arms out at shoulder height. Let them fall by force of gravity down to your sides. Take that same feel to the start of your downswing.

1. Shortening the arm swing, with much help and guidance from Slicefixer
2. Slicefixer's version of the 9 to 3 drill. Remember, one of the most important elements of this drill is to
feel as if your hands and arms are doing nothing active in the downswing. That the pivot is hitting the ball
3. The Gyroswing training aid. Combined with the 9 to 3 drill feels, I cannot recommend this aid highly enough. When you can get into the impact zone without the clubhead "flipping over" then you are getting it right
4. "Try to hit the biggest draw you can without using your hands" Best swing thought I've ever used. Automatically gets me swinging with the correct kinematic sequence
5.
The feeling that you are leaving the clubhead behind in the transition from backswing to throughswing

Let gravity drop the club, dont pull it down. If you are doing it right then you will feel a lot of pressure in the right hand on the base of the index finger.

Great point gravity moving at 9.8 meters a sec/squared this will give the player the sense of loading the right index finger. Which gives direction, location and a feel for the clubhead in the hands and more specific the trigger finger.

Recently what has helped me is to focus on relaxing those tense muscles, and think of swinging my body/torso in tempo with the clubhead, keeping the spine at a steady angle .. probably what that Harvey Penick dude meant by "swinging a bucket filled with water". You need to kind of pause at the top to get the rhythm right, or like what "HoganFan924" said, feel like you are leaving the club behind .. but DO NOT overswing

How about replacing the ball with a target/spot? It took me 2 weeks, but I no longer even look at the ball. I look at a spot 2-3 inches infront of the ball along my target line. Impact has improved. I hit the ball straighter, higher, and with more spin. It has completely changed my iron game. I have hit 10 of my last 12 par 3's in regulation. You may be too ball bound, and concentrating too much on the ball. The ball should just get in the way of your swing. Just something that worked for me.

One thing that has helped me to overcome the hit, is to swing the club with the right index finger, and thumb off of the club. It felt really awkward for me at first, like giving up total control of the club, but the swing was really effortless, and I didn't tense up as much either, and the ball flight was great. That may work for you also.

This is exactly what helped me, especially with the driver and the fw wood off the tee box. I saw the drill somewhere, just can't remember where. But when you take that right hand partially off the club,
you literally HAVE TO use your body to help the left arm bring the club back through. As long as that left hand is properly on the grip, that ball is going straight. Great fix for a hook as well. Additionally, a very good swing thought off the tee - just keep that right hand very loose and relaxed, and the club will whip on through very nicely.

golf tips: to create lag, place cover loosely on club and swing - it should go forward

drill: start with club in down position with wrists cocked and arms parallel with ground. Speed comes from THIS point onward.

hit down on irons and compress ball
